Name: Theophilus Edward McCully Jr., known as Ed

Date and place of birth: June 1, 1927

Accepted Jesus Christ as Savior: At the age of seven

Commitment to missionary service: September 1950, while reading the book of Nehemiah in the Bible

Mission agency: Christian Missions in Many Lands (Plymouth Brethren)

Education: Wheaton College, 1945-1949 (left for 14 months in 1945 for service in the Navy); Lake Forest College, 1945-1946; Northwestern University, 1945-1946; Marquette University Law School, 1949-1950 (dropped out to become a missionary); School of Missionary Medicine in Los Angeles, California, 1951-1952

Military experience: U.S. Navy, June 27, 1945 to August 29, 1946

Marriage: Marilou Hobolth in June, 1951. They met when he spoke at a Christian young people’s banquet in Pontiac, Michigan

Children: Steve (1952), Mike (1954), Matt (1956)

Experience in Christian work: Series of evangelistic radio broadcasts with Jim Elliot in southern Illinois in 1951; gave messages at a number of churches and other forums, 1951; helped run a Christian boarding school for boys with Jim Elliot and Peter Fleming; became a Christian worker among the Quichuas in Arajuno

Mission stations in Ecuador: Arrived in Ecuador December 1952 after language study in Quito, Shandia and then Arajuno (very close to Waorani territory)
