These images continue the second series in the collection, those depicting work
in Cameroon. Almost
certainly all Africans in the photos are from the Bulu people, sometimes called
the Boulou. The accompanying captions are Laura's own. Any text provided by the
Archives is enclosed within brackets; the image number begins each
bracketed comment.

[II.37. Rev. Melvin Fraser served as a
missionary in Cameroon from 1894 to 1930.]
Rev. C.W. McCleary
[II.35. Presbyterian missionary Charles Warner McCleary served in West
Africa from 1895 until his death in Cameroon in 1903. Among other activities,
Fraser (pictured above), McCleary, several Cameroon Christians, and others worked on a
translation of the New Testament into Bulu. It was published in 1909.
The translation of the entire Bible was completed in 1940.]
