| Kenneth’s childhood was simple and straightforward. His family did not celebrate birthdays or Christmas, since Brad came from a strict Congregationalist upbringing. This background most likely accounted for Brad's strict and ordered home and this rigidity brought with it many other things. Brad sought obedience from his family and expected discipline from them and himself. He would not accept any challenge to his authority and each family member was aware of this. Kenneth’s older brother Bradley was readily compliant, however, Kenny, as he was called, was not one to conform despite numerous efforts by Brad to the contrary. This caused great tension between father and son, so much so, that Kenneth began to run away from home at the age of four. |
