Career

  1937-1942 Worked in the oil fields of Pennsylnaia and elsewhere.

 

1942-1946

Served in the United State Army  

 

1946-1954

Worked on the staff of the Navigators evangelistic organization. (He had begun working with the Navigators on a volunteer basis in the Army) He started as director of the orgnization Northwest district, based in Seattle, Washington. In 1952 he became part of the Navigator team that worked with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The Navigatos developed and implemented for the BGEA a program for involving local church in BGEA evangelistic campaigns by training counselors from the laity and planning a campaign follow-up program to work with new converts.  

 

1954-

Joined the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as one of the teachers of counseling and follow-up, became director of director of counseling and follow-up, and then also served as the crusade director for many meetings, including the 1957 New York City campaign. He taught counseling and follow-up classes to many tens of thousands laypeople, minister and Christian workers  all over the world, including at American and international Schools of Evangelism, sponsored by the BGEA

In later years was often a volunteer counselor on visits to prisons organized by Prison Fellowship
