Kudos

Below are some of the comments made by the many, many visitors to the Archives that Jan helped over the years.

Thank you very much for the excellent orientation that...Jan presented to our Research Methods class earlier this semester. I'm sure that most of the grad students had not been aware of the rich resources that our BGC Archives contain. I appreciate your willingness to help so enthusiastically and warmly.

Dr. Glenn Arnold, Wheaton College faculty.

I want to thank you and your staff for all your help during my visit to the Archives from July 28 through August 1. I am particularly appreciative in light of the fact that this was the first time I had ever used such a facility. You and your staff showed all of the patience, tact and understanding that a novice could possibly wish for. You and the staff were particularly helpful in providing assistance when the Kuhlman papers proved to be somewhat thin. The entrance interview with Janyce Nasgowitz also helped uncover some leads I would not otherwise have been aware of.

Frederick C. Jordan, chair, History Department at the Stony Brook School in New York.

Janyce: Thank you for your help in trying to locate the book "The Hiding Place" in Spanish. I know that a movie of Corrie Ten Boom's Life is in spanish and I just can't imagine that her testimony hasn't been translated as well. Again, I appreciate you help. God Bless you!

I am back in Memphis again, following my trip to Wheaton and Pennsylvania, and want to take this opportunity of thanking you and your staff for all the help you extended to me while I was at the Archives looking through photographs of Dr. [Stephen] Olford's ministry. I especially appreciated the courtesy and "extra mile" that Janyce Nasgowitz went to in my"race against the clock." It was a most interesting experience for me, and I came away feeling that the day had been a most profitable one.

Victoria Kuhl, Homiletical Secretary to Stephen Olford of Encounter Ministries.

Mrs. Nasgowitz: Many thanks for your very helpful postings regarding the BGC's collection of holdings related to Africa. It looks as though you have some very interesting materials. I hope to look through your indexes soon and will, I hope, have a chance to examine the materials themselves, either 'in person' or via interlibrary loan.

E-mail from Dr. Derek Peterson, Professor of African History at the University of Minnesota.

Dear Janyce, I wanted to send a quick note to say thanks for all your help when I was there a few weeks ago. I was the guy writing a biography of George Eldon Ladd, and trying to see the restricted Harold Lindsell files. Your help and conversation made for a productive and enjoyable day, and I appreciate it.

E-mail message from of the John A. D'Elia Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles.

Dear Jan: Just a short note to thank you for your kind hospitality and willing helpfulness at the BG Archives last Thursday. I am sorry I could not be there longer, but it was a very worthwhile day for me.

John Roxborogh, researcher from New Zealand.

Dear Jan: I wanted to thank you very much for your patience and assistance during my week of research at the Graham Center Archives. I saw many interesting things and learned a great deal during my whirlwind tour through the films and videos. Needless to say, there was much I couldn’t cover. We're now reviewing all my findings and will be in touch soon regarding duplication of materials.

Dear Mrs. Nasgowitz, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my e-mail. I greatly appreciate the references you sent me, I will be sure to check out a few of these books. A few days after I sent you an e-mail, I found a web site that had the information I was looking for, but I find the life of Nate Saint very interesting and I would like to know more. Once again, I greatly appreciate all of your help. May you have a blessed day in God, and may many be blessed by your ministries.
