item 57: from Collection 102, phonograph record P9
Paper and plastic 78 r.p.m. phonograph record, “A souvenir of the New York Crusade.” The BGEA sent one to everyone who wrote to the Association in response to the television broadcasts. It could be played on a regular phonograph or hung on the wall. This was one in a series of similar records they gave to supporters which they called “talking pictures." This particular record had on side 1 a picture of Madison Square Garden and George Beverly Shea and the crusade choir singing, How Great Thou Art. See reverse side.
