Photo of a caricature by Sid Couchey of the BGEA crusade staff as a baseball team, with photos of the various individuals glued on. Couchey was a cartoonist for Harvey Comics and also an usher at the crusade. Billy Graham is shown as the batter. Among other staff pictured (left to right) Betty Lowry, Jimmy Moore, Lane Adams, Mel Dibble, Bill Brown, Joe Blinco, Stephen Olford (the last two in cricketer’s gear because they were English), Dan Piatt, Roger Hull, Lorne Sanny, Paul Maddox (only half his picture, at the bottom of the page), Clayton Bell, Tedd Smith, Cliff Barrows, Billy Graham, Leighton Ford, T. W. Wilson, Akbar Haqq, Grady Wilson, Martha Haymaker, Willis Haymaker, unknown, Walter M. Smyth, Jerry Bevean, Charles Riggs, Howard Butt (the picture of his head had slid from where it originally was, the figure saying, “What - no Texas red hots”, down to the bottom of the picture, right next to Mitchell) Ralph Mitchell, George Beverly Shea, Paul Michelson. Mr. Couchey gave copies of the caricature to Billy Graham and several other BGEA staff. For years one of the copies hung in the BGEA’s Charlotte, North Carolina office. A list of staff and volunteers working on the crusade is also available. See an enlarged version of the cartoon.
