November 2, 1949. Associated Press news story. The Associated Press (AP) and the United Press (UP) were the two major news syndication services in the United States. Their coverage of a story ensured that it would probably be picked up and appear in both the largest city and the smallest home town papers. This AP news story was released to the newspapers that subscribed to the service all over the country and turned up in papers from Oregon to Florida over the next two or three days. Read examples from The Columbia State and the Toronto Daily Star. From Collection 360, Scrapbook 5.
