| B&W photo. View of the tent
where the services were held. Notice the flaps along the side that
could be raised to provide greater circulation of air in warm weather.
The first weeks of the meetings were unseasonably cold, which caused
the Committee to consider ending the campaign at the originally
scheduled date. However, the group was undecided and prayed for
an improvement in the weather as a sign from God that they should
continue. On October 16 the tent got so warm that Graham asked that
the flaps be raised. The campaign was continued for another week,
the first of several continuations. (Also see a 1983
view with the same building in the background, taken at the
time of the dedication of a plaque to commemorate the 1949 campaign.)
