| Below is the first page of a letter by the chaplin of Wheaton College, Rev. Evan Welsh. He was responding to a question Billy Graham had asked him in preparation for the upcoming evangelistic campaign about the spiritual concerns on campus. Welsh's reply gives an interesting picture of Wheaton in 1959. The "Pledge" referred to in the letter is the statement on personal conduct signed by all students, faculty and staff in which the signed agreed, among other things, not to attend movies, dance, drink alcohol, etc. while part of the College community. |
