Arthur Mole (1889-1983)
was famous in early 20th century America for creating enormous "living
photographs" by having hundreds or thousands or even tens of thousands
stand in particular patterns that, when viewed from above, could be seen to
form words or portraits or symbols. This photo was one of several he took in
  his hometown, Zion, Illinois.
