Lausanne II
The Second International Congress on World Evangelization
Manila, Philippines
July 11-20, 1989

Lausanne II was convened by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (LCWE). The meeting was intended as a continuation of the 1974 International Congress on World Evangelization held in Lausanne Switzerland. The second congress both reviewed the activities of the Lausanne movement up to that point and developed strategies for new evangelization efforts. Just as the "Unreached Peoples" concept had been an important theme at the first congress, the leaders of the AD 2000 movement were influential in shaping the second congress. The final statement of the Congress was The Manila Manifesto.

Attendance: 4300 participants from 173 countries
