Now ShowingJanuary 2014: Caught at the Border - |
|
After distributing Bibles in the Soviet Union in 1961, Roger Malstead (pictured left) and OM founder George Verwer ("Thurber" in the clipping) were stopped at a border before crossing into Czechoslovakia and were arrested for distributing "anti-Soviet literature." The above clipping records the UPI account of the event, while Malstead's oral history interview in 1986 gives his own version of what happened - read a transcript or listen to the excerpt on their ministry, arrest and the earliest days of Operation Mobilization in an online exhibit. (Malstead completed his freshman year at Wheaton College before transferring to BIOLA.) These items come from the Archives' Collection 337 - Papers of Roger Henry Malstead |
