Scope and Content

Scott Nyborg was interviewed by Paul Ericksen on January 15, 1993, at the office of Latin America Mission in Miami, Florida. The events described in the interview cover the time period 1917-1993.

T1 (approximately 75 minutes). Family background, employment with High School Evangelism Fellowship, training nature of the fellowship, working for High School Evangelism Fellowship again during the 1957 Billy Graham New York Crusade, starting new high school clubs with new converts, director of Sermons from Science at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, beginning to work for Office of Worldwide Evangelism in Depth (OWED) within Latin America Mission in Miami, Ruben Lores (concerned with tension between missions and the national church overseas), ending of Evangelism-in-Depth, mentality of the church to have programs for everything (towards church growth rather than conversion), working in In-Depth Evangelism Associates (IDEA), OWED programs around the world: Japan, Phillippines, Nigeria, Zaire, Portugal, United States (eastern Pennsylvania, DuPage County, Illinois), contrasting OWED programs with Evangelism-in-Depth in Latin America, creation and purpose of the Reality Seminars - tackling paternalistic, narcissistic and provincial attitudes of American church towards the world, reactions to seminars, Carlos Rene Padilla (prophetic voice, bold stand for word of God, passion for social issues and evangelism), Clayton L. “Mike” Berg, Orlando E.
