Baptist clergyman, educator, missionary and missions promoter, founder of Columbian College (now George Washington University). Born 1783; died 1836.
Scope and Content
Microfilm of list of correspondents, lecture notes on theology and other topics, school records of Columbian College, diary, financial record book, letters of Baptist educator, missionary, and leader Luther Rice. Also a copy of the 1814 constitution (and later suggested revisions) of the General Missionary Convention of the Baptist Denomination in the United States for Foreign Missions. Originals filmed by the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Church.
