Undergraduate Admissions
Admissions Counselor - Conservatory Of Music
Responsibilities
  Responsible to both the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Dean of the Conservatory of Music. This position is 32 hours a week, 11 months of the year.
 
Duties
  1.  Coordinate a comprehensive follow-up plan for music prospects including:
  a.  Regular correspondence
  b.  Periodic phone follow-up including coordinating student volunteers
  c.  Publication development
  d.  Coordination of recruitment efforts with faculty and staff
  e.  Maintenance of application/credential files
  f.  Maintain a procedures manual
  2.  Actively develop and implement productive strategies that generate Conservatory prospects and applicants.
  3.  Provide initial evaluation of all Conservatory applications.
  4.  Make recommendations to the Director of Admissions regarding the admissibility of Conservatory applicants, serving as an advocate during the decision making process for them.
  5.  Attend college day/night programs, conduct high school visits, and participate in other recruitment activities as directed.
  6.  Speak with parents and applicants by phone as they call regarding procedure, credentials, status of application, and admissions decisions.
  7.  Conduct on-campus, off-campus, and telephone interviews with students.
  8.  Conduct information sessions with individuals and groups.
  9.  Plan and coordinate special campus visit programs (including audition days and Wheaton Connection events) for prospective music students.
  10.  Serve in an advisory capacity on the Conservatory Initial and Renewal Scholarship Committees.
  11.  Assist with additional tasks as needed in the Conservatory office.
   
Qualifications
  1.  Bachelor's degree preferred.
  2.  Familiarity with music programs.
  3.  Strong communication, decision-making and organization skills.
  4.  Self-motivated, ability to work with details and manage many tasks.
