Athletics
Head Men's Soccer Coach
Responsibilities
  This is a 40 hour per week/12 month position that reports to the Director of Athletics with responsibility to oversee, instruct, and implement all aspects of the intercollegiate men’s soccer program. Conduct the program with a committed understanding that in the pursuit of athletic excellence, we seek to develop students for Christian life and service.
 
Duties
  1.  Organize and administrate all aspects of the men’s soccer program, including the preparation and execution of practice, game preparation, and player execution
  a.  Manage and prepare suggested operating budget for each year.
  b.  Supervise and evaluate part-time assistant coaches
  c.  Purchase equipment, uniforms and practice gear for the men’s soccer program (this includes handling travel arrangements—negotiating air fare, hotels, rental vehicles, food)
  d.  Supervise team manager and any student employees
  e.  Coordinate filming of all contests and game exchange with opponents
  f.  Watch and breakdown opponent games to develop scouting reports in order to provide game plans; do all film editing.
  g.  Plan and execute practice; lead team and breakdown drills
  h.  Develop all off-season training programs
  i.  Provide feedback and instruction in individual and team development
  2.  Pursue student-athlete recruitment
  a.  Conduct primary recruiting evaluations
  b.  Coordinate recruit communications, recruit visits, recruiting schedules
  3.  Provide leadership and discipleship to current student-athletes
  a.  Handle logistics of any team ministry trips—negotiate and purchase air fare, handle the Wheaton College paperwork, coordinate with student health services, write fundraising letters, track the fundraising, etc.
  b.  Coordinate team service projects
  c.  Seek intentional discipleship—encourage and correct players on and off the field
  d.  Be a consistent role model and resource for players in their own spiritual development
  e.  Lead occasional team devotionals
  f.  Provide leadership to captains for player-led discipleship small groups
  4.  Serve as avenue for communication/program representative with alumni, parents, and community
  a.  Write the communications between men’s soccer program and alumni
  b.  Organize and execute any alumni activities
  c.  Plan and organize any senior day activities, cancer awareness activities, youth nights, etc.
  5.  Comply with Wheaton College, CCIW, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  6.  Attend the soccer coaches’ convention annually and other professional coaching clinics.
  7.  Perform a second assignment based on qualifications.
  8.  Perform other duties as assigned.
   
Qualifications
  1.  Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
  2.  Three years’ experience in coaching soccer and related administrative experience
  3.  Playing experience at the college level
  4.  Affirm the Wheaton College Statement of Faith and have a robust Christian faith and commitment.
