Alumni Relations
Web/Email Development Assistant
Responsibilities
  Reports to the Communications Coordinator to effectively execute and coordinate communications with alumni through the web, email, and social media. This position is 20 hours a week, 12 months of the year. This position is an entry-level position suitable for someone with a basic to intermediate understanding of HTML and website content management.
 
Duties
  1.  Assist the Communications Coordinator in drafting, testing, and sending email campaigns for alumni relations and other campus departments.
  2.  Assist the Alumni Relations team in marketing events through designing emails, web content, and event registration forms.
  3.  Create and maintain web pages, event listings and registrations, and other content on the alumni website.
  4.  Approve class notes, photos, and other submissions from alumni for publication on the alumni website.
  5.  Respond to incoming calls and email messages from alumni and staff regarding alumni website technical support and troubleshooting.
  6.  Contribute to ongoing research and help implement best practices for alumni communication online, particularly in the area of social media.
  7.  Perform other duties as assigned.
   
Qualifications
  1.  Training in web design/development and electronic communications.
  2.  Proven excellence and creativity in use of web and/or graphic design software. Demonstrated skill and ability in writing HTML and CSS by hand.
  3.  Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills, and the ability to handle details and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and correct grammar.
  4.  Familiarity with software packages such as Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe Photoshop), MS Office, and website administration using Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.)
  5.  Knowledge of web site management concepts, web content and email marketing strategies, and current trends and issues with electronic communications.
