HoneyRock
Program Manager

Position in WI
Responsibilities
  This position is responsible to the Program Director to fulfill HoneyRock’s mission, vision, and commitments by managing the Graduate program and global initiative, serving as a part of the program team, and performing related administrative functions. On-site housing is an option depending on family size and available space. This is a permanent, full-time position in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
 
Duties
  1.  Graduate Program Leadership including student discipleship and program administration: Disciple and develop Outdoor Adventure Leadership (OAL) students throughout their program. Work with Graduate Admissions and the academic departments to select students into the OAL concentration. Provide overall program coordination including course scheduling, faculty planning, marketing and communication with faculty and students. Teach courses and seminars as appropriate.
  2.  International Program Development: Work with Director and appropriate offices in Wheaton (Global and Experiential Learning, International students, etc.) to coordinate and develop HoneyRock’s global ministry. This includes developing ministry partnerships for staff exchanges, facilitating foreign national students/volunteers, and enhancing HoneyRock’s cross-cultural effectiveness.
  3.  Lead and Manage Wheaton Passage: Work with Passage Leadership Team (HoneyRock Director, Wheaton Passage coordinator, Urban Studies Director, Chair of CFM department, and HoneyRock Program Managers) to lead Wheaton Passage program. This includes curriculum design, student, staff, and faculty recruitment, staff training, liaison with Wheaton College Admissions and Student Development offices, coordinating in-camp logistics/schedules and out-of-camp service projects, and coordinating with HoneyRock staff.
  4.  Challenge Course Manager: Provide overall leadership for HoneyRock’s challenge courses. This includes supervising the challenge course facilitators, coordinating training across all departments and programs, working with Program Maintenance Manager to complete maintenance and annual inspections. Continue to grow the use of this valuable resource as training ground for facilitation and the experiential education process across HoneyRock and Wheaton College.
  5.  Program Team Member: Participate as a positive contributing member of the HoneyRock professional program team in strategic planning and implementation of the HoneyRock camper and student programs.
  6.  Administrative Planning and Coordination: Provide administrative planning and input as a member of the core permanent staff of HoneyRock by participating in HoneyRock strategic planning, staff retreats, ministry assessment, and task forces as requested.
  7.  Resource Person: Serve as a resource for any additional functions.
   
Qualifications
  1.  Master’s degree required. Doctoral degree preferred.
  2.  Demonstrated passion for developing, discipling, and teaching emerging adults in an outdoor, adventure environment.
  3.  Understanding and demonstrated skill in experiential education pedagogy and teaching.
  4.  Demonstrated cross-cultural leadership and ministry experience and effectiveness.
  5.  Ability to work independently and accept supervision.
  6.  At least 5 years of experience in higher education and/or outdoor-related ministry.
  7.  Sense of giftedness and calling to rural living and ministry within close-knit, ministry-oriented community.
  8.  Skills in organization/administration and customer relations.
  9.  Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  A person hired for this role will have a passion for and be gifted in the spiritual formation and holistic development of undergraduate and graduate students, will be an experiential educator at heart with the ability to apply that educational pedagogy in a camp setting, and will be skilled in cross-cultural leadership development.
The primary focus of this role is to provide leadership to Wheaton Passage (summer) and the Outdoor Adventure Leadership (school year) program of the Wheaton College Graduate School. This person will join the HoneyRock team that exists to equip effective leaders for Christ’s kingdom worldwide through the integration of transformational outdoor experiences with the mission and programs of Wheaton College.
