Dean Of Student Care And Services
Responsibilities
  Reporting to the Vice President for Student Development, the Dean of Student Care & Services, as a senior member of the Vice President’s leadership team, is responsible for the strategic development of programs and services related to student well-being and care, and for overseeing the administration of Academic & Disabilities Support, Career Services, the Counseling Center, and Student Health Services. The Dean of Student Care & Services also serves as Title IX Coordinator.
 
Duties
  1.  Supervise the Academic & Disabilities Support Coordinator, the Director of Career Services, the Director of the Counseling Center, the Director of Student Health Services, Administrative Assistant to the Dean, providing continuous improvement and seamless systems of program and service delivery, student learning outcomes, successful planning and completion of departmental goals and objectives; approve and monitor the budgets for each of these areas.
  2.  Serve as Title IX Coordinator for campus. Responsible for coordinating campus efforts regarding prevention and remediation of discrimination, sexual misconduct, stalking, relational violence, bullying and cyber-bullying and retaliation. Oversight of ADA (Section 504) compliance and gender equity issues related to Athletics.
  3.  Assist the Vice President for Student Development in evaluating, establishing, and publishing student guidelines and policies.
  4.  Lead the Student Development Division in development of student learning outcomes and ongoing assessment interpretation, systems and tools.
  5.  Provide leadership for all issues related to responding to students of concern.
  6.  Equip faculty, staff and students to respond, refer and support students in crisis appropriately.
  7.  Facilitate student support network (direct threat analysis) meetings with key members of the campus community.
  8.  Coordinate care plans for at-risk students in collaboration with campus and off-campus resources.
  9.  Counsel students, upon request or referral, to facilitate personal and spiritual growth.
  10.  Partner with the Registrar regarding decisions involving incompletes, academic petitions, withdrawals/cancelations, suspensions and dismissals.
  11.  Provide administrative leadership for chapel attendance through the development of policy, systems, training and support for student chaplains and the Chapel Graduate Assistant. Meet with students that qualify for chapel attendance related suspension.
  12.  Implement programs (staff and student-based) to address current student care issues as well as to equip faculty, staff and students who desire to be a help to students with care needs.
  13.  Foster relationships with on-campus and off-campus programs and service providers in an effort to mobilize resources for student care.
  14.  Collaborate with Associate Dean of Residence Life when responding to intertwining student care and discipline issues.
  15.  Respond to all outside requests for information from the Dean’s office (e.g. federal agencies, graduate/law/medical schools).
  16.  Perform other duties as assigned such as representing the Student Development Division on campus-wide committees and participating in campus-wide events.
  17.  Perform other duties as assigned.
   
Qualifications
  1.  Ph.D. required.
  2.  Minimum of 7-years experience in Student Development.
  3.  Excellent interpersonal and administrative skills.
  4.  Previous experience in handling student care and discipline.
  5.  Well-developed understanding and demonstrated experience working with counseling, intervention and developmental processes.
