Residence Hall Graduate Resident Adviser (GRA) |

| Responsibilities |
| |
Under the supervision of the Residence Director, the GRA participates in the administration of a residence hall, and in the service to the personal, physical, and spiritual needs of students. Because of the nature of the Graduate Resident Adviser’s (GRA) duties, this position provides excellent preparation for vocational ministry and complements the graduate student’s coursework and other aspects of his or her educational program. These responsibilities are in addition to carrying the agreed upon course load of graduate school credits each semester. |

| Duties |
| |
1. |
Participate in the first year GRA Student Development class (Organization and Administration of Student Affairs) at Wheaton College on July 22rd-27th. |
| |
2. |
Assist in supervising, training and advising 4 undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs) through weekly individual meetings. |
| |
3. |
Mentor 4 RAs weekly and develop relationships with them and the other students on their floors by socializing and attends various floor events. |
| |
4. |
Meet regularly with the RD for further training, advising, and support. |
| |
5. |
Assist in the cultivation of a residence hall environment that fosters community through caring relationships, service to others as well as mutual encouragement and accountability. |
| |
6. |
Advise and connect with students who have concerns or are on the Student Care Network and refer them to the appropriate campus resources. |
| |
7. |
Participate in the leadership of the 12-14 member Resident Assistant team. |
| |
8. |
Meet regularly with the building senior staff (RD, GRAs and Assistant Residence Director (ARD) for planning, information sharing, and support. |
| |
9. |
Meet weekly with the RD/GRA team for staff development, sharing information, and for support. |
| |
10. |
Participate in the preliminary phases of Resident Assistant selection and training. |
| |
11. |
Assist the Associate Dean of Residence Life and the Dean of Student Care & Services in communicating and enforcing College and Residence Life guidelines and policies. |
| |
12. |
Schedule concentrated relationship-building time, while supervising the residence hall, one weeknight from 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m and one on-duty weekend every month. For weekends not “off”, GRAs are expected to be around in case of emergencies. |

13. |
Be available to attend significant floor, building, or staff events. |
| |
14. |
Plan and implement personal and professional goals at the beginning of each year. |
| |
15. |
Participate in one Residence Life subcommittee each year. |
| |
16. |

17. |
The first-year GRA is responsible to staff and supervise the front desk workers throughout the year. This includes recruitment, training, and time-card duties. The second-year GRA is responsible for selecting and supervising a staff- team of 12 sophomore leaders called the Community Life/Upperclass Hall Councils. |

Perform other duties as assigned. |

Understanding of issues related to gender and ethnic identity development |
| |

Must not have any other major time commitments beyond being a student and a GRA |
